Four bikers enthusiastically participated in the Eco-biking to White-house Viewpoint Resort organized by Leela’s Eco Café, Farm and BnB of The Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation (KRMEF) in Khahare on June 4.
Starting from Jawalakhel at 11:15 in the morning, the bikers left for their destination to KRMEF. “Though the participants were expected to be more, it turned out be just four however it was enough for the adventurous journey”, according to Prashant Kalauni- one of the participants that day.

Walking bike, biking walk!

After 7 kilometers of pedaling through the bumpy roads, they reached KRMEF in this green village of Khahare around half-past twelve. As soon as they reached the foundation, they ordered Nepalese Veg. Thaali (rice meal) for lunch since they were hungry to their teeth. They rested at the café where the view around seemed to be mesmerizing and peaceful far from the madding crowd of the city areas.

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day was “Connecting with Nature”. And to commemorate this special occasion, Leela’s Eco Café, Farm and BnB offered the participants one of the best biodynamic tour around KRMEF. The participants really enjoyed and learned about the sustainable eco-friendly practices of bottle-buildings, health clinic, community library, eco-café, biodynamic farm, eco-homestay, jewelry workshop, bio-briquette production, bee-keeping, solar heater and drier, rooftop garden and many more at one common destination. According to Krishna Gurung-the Founder of KRMEF, “There are lots of scopes to promote sustainable community development in our country if we use our mind, body and heart to a maximum.”
Although the destination was to reach Whitehouse Viewpoint Resort, the participants were a bit tired and in addition, they were really enjoying the tour of KRMEF. So they did not climb the nearby hill and instead relished in the beautiful atmosphere of KRMEF.
At the end of the tour, they came across the playground of Ankuran Waldorf-inspired School which was also a part of KRMEF. The children of the school seemed to be walking in line around the farm where they learnt about the source of their food. In the playground, the visitors also had the chance to play the swings, slides and houses made up of bamboos and recycled tyres for the school children.
Before returning back from the day’s tour, the participants had an amazing Mint Lassi and Chocolate Mo:mo which were completely new for the visitors. At the café, they also bought Herbal Honey, biodynamic vegetables and local Daal(lentils) produced from their own farm.
